Autumn Ends & Another Winter Begins

It has to be said that we were graced with a beautiful last day of Autumn 2015 here in Clare, the birds sang, the dogs ran with extra ‘pep in their steps’, the horses enjoyed their hay whilst the sun shone  on their backs and we worked outdoors with not a raincoat or woolly hat required!!

Yesterday saw a new equine arrive into our care, on account of him being light grey and it being Halloween he has been christened Ghost.

He is a 16.1′ seven year old Irish Draft gelding who is being cautious about trusting us yet but hopefully once he has settled in and made a few friends that will change.  Ghost does have a lump above his left eye which we will get checked out, apparently he has had it for a long time so we are hoping that it is not anything sinister.

Our next hay delivery should be arriving on Tuesday, this will bring our hay spend so far this year to €7,515 which means that we are definitely going to pass last year’s total.  Our Winter Hay Prize Draw tickets are currently available to buy/sell so please show your support for what we do by helping us make this year our most successful draw to date.

Here’s hoping that the mild weather continues for another few weeks to shorten the winter season a bit and make these days of shortened daylight more bearable for all us humans & animals alike.
