“Take Them In & Fix Them Up”

There reaches a time in everyone’s life where one has to say “enough is enough” and running a rescue is no different. Sadly for the animals who are out there needing/hoping for help we cannot be of assistance for reasons such as:

• We are full to capacity
• Despite the wide variety of equines we have available for adoption we are not receiving any offers of homes
• We are not in a position financially to increase our workload
• We do not have the physical strength to do more than we currently are

Animal Health & Welfare Act 2013

New animal welfare legislation introduced

Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney has said new legislation on animal welfare which came into effect today, outlines in clear legal terms the responsibility people have when they own an animal.

The Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 https://www.agriculture.gov.ie/media/migration/animalhealthwelfare/legislation/AnimalHealthandWelfareAct060314.pdf includes provision for increased powers for authorised officers to investigate complaints of animal cruelty, and stricter penalties on convictions.

New penalties for convictions include powers granted to a judge to ban a person from owning an animal and a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Great Car Boot Sale @ Edupet

It is hard at this busy time of the year with all the extra feeding, etc to make time to attend daylight events when so much needs to be done at the rescue (especially when wind, rain & hail give way to some sunshine after lunch!!).

Thanks to Department of Agriculture

We are happy to say that we have been granted funding of €2,100 from the Department of Agriculture to assist us in continuing with our work in 2014.

Coveney awards funding to Animal Welfare Organisations

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD, has announced funding of €1.8m to 136 organisations involved in animal care and welfare services throughout the country.  The payments will be made with immediate effect.
